Tamale Making!

Saturday was "tamale making day" at our house! I have been part of tamale making all of my 29 years. We used to make them on Christmas Eve and eat them for dinner at Grandma Mary's house. Over the years, it has changed locations and dates. This year we offered our house. The girls had a lot of fun running around the house and visiting with my aunts. They decorated their gingerbread people that Chris had made with them. The girls each took a turn spreading the masa on the tamales. Olivia stuck with it the longest, even wearing an apron. My Aunt Celia and Aunt Linda came over, along with my parents. Grandma Mary made the meat and chili that went into the tamales. We had a fun time making tamales. The tamales took all day to cook, they weren't done cooking until 7! We taste tested a couple and they were YUMMY! We made 3 pots of them, and we used 25 pounds of masa.
